Role Overview
- Electrical Design & Engineering
- Design electrical systems for solar PV, battery storage, and EV charging installations.
- Prepare electrical calculations including load assessments, cable sizing, protection coordination, and fault level analysis.
- Produce technical drawings and schematics using CAD or similar software.
- Develop system layouts, single-line diagrams, and detailed installation designs.
- Ensure compliance with BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) and relevant UK standards.
- Project Delivery
- Provide engineering support throughout project lifecycle including feasibility, design, installation, testing, and commissioning.
- Liaise with project managers, installers, subcontractors, and clients.
- Conduct site surveys and technical assessments.
- Assist with preparation of technical specifications and tender documentation.
- Support troubleshooting and fault-finding activities.
- Renewable & EV Infrastructure
- Design grid-connected solar PV and battery storage systems.
- Support DNO applications including G98/G99 submissions.
- Design EV charging infrastructure including load management and network integration.
- Ensure integration with existing building electrical infrastructure.
- Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure all designs comply with health and safety legislation and industry standards.
- Prepare technical reports, operation manuals, and handover documentation.
- Maintain accurate project records and engineering documentation.
Qualifications Skills & Experience Required – Essential
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
- Strong understanding of UK electrical regulations (BS 7671).
- Experience in electrical design within building services, renewables, or infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of solar PV systems and/or EV charging infrastructure.
- Experience using design software such as AutoCAD, Amtech, Dialux, or similar.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Full UK driving licence.
