The Role
We have an opportunity for a CAD Technician to join our projects team in a focused technical drawing role. You will produce CAD drawings for our bespoke fireplace installations and maintain the technical documentation that supports them. This is a part-time, office‑based position with settled daytime hours, well suited to an experienced technician looking for a part‑time pattern that fits around other commitments.
Key responsibilities
- Producing full technical fireplace drawings in 2D and 3D using CAD software
- Creating cut lists and material specifications from designs
- Preparing client proposals and technical documentation
- Uploading and managing drawings and project documents on our construction portal
- Checking drawings for technical accuracy against client specifications
Essential skills and experience
- Expert, master‑level proficiency in AutoCAD — this is the core technical requirement of the role, not a nice‑to‑have
- Construction, building or trade industry experience — particularly within joinery, cabinet‑making, stone and marble manufacturing
- Ability to read and interpret technical and architectural drawings
- Understanding of construction principles, M&E services, FF&E and building methods
- Strong attention to detail for technical accuracy
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Competent with the Microsoft Office suite
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
Desirable but not essential
- Experience with contractor portals (Procore, Buildertrend or similar)
- 3D modelling and visualisation skills (SketchUp or similar)
- Experience with metalwork or other fabricated elements — some components are fabricated rather than built on site, so familiarity with these processes is an advantage
- Knowledge of building regulations relating to fireplaces and chimneys
- Fireplace industry experience
What we offer
- Full training on fireplace‑specific technical requirements and company systems
- Settled, part‑time daytime hours
- Full training on our product range, technical requirements, and company systems
- Company pension after 3 months
- Long service life assurance
- The opportunity to work with exceptional materials and craftsmanship in a showroom environment
- A key role within an established company undergoing significant growth and operational transformation
