THE ROLE:
We currently have an opportunity for a CAD Technician to join our projects team in a mixed technical and coordination role. This is a varied position combining technical drawing work with project coordination. You will produce CAD drawings for bespoke fireplace installations whilst supporting project delivery through order processing, scheduling, and construction portal management. Approximately 60% of your time will be spent on CAD work (2D and 3D fireplace drawings, cut lists, client proposals) with 40% dedicated to structured project administration tasks that keep installations moving forward efficiently.
Key responsibilities include:
- Producing technical fireplace drawings in 2D and 3D using CAD software
- Creating cut lists and material specifications from designs
- Preparing client proposals and technical documentation
- Processing orders and tracking delivery schedules
- Managing construction portal uploads and project documentation
- Coordinating with installation partners, sales, and operations teams
- Checking drawings against project schedules and client specifications
- Supporting appointment scheduling with project coordinator guidance
Essential skills and experience:
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD/Revit/SketchUp/ArtiCAD)
- Construction, building, or trade industry experience
- Ability to read and interpret technical/architectural drawings
- Understanding of construction principles and building methods
- Strong attention to detail for technical accuracy
- Good organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Competent with Microsoft Office suite
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
Desirable but not essential:
- Experience with contractor portals (Procore/PlanGrid/Buildertrend or similar)
- 3D modelling and visualisation skills
- Knowledge of building regulations relating to fireplaces/chimneys
- Fireplace industry experience
