We pride ourselves on delivering excellent service and a welcoming atmosphere. We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Deputy General Manager to work closely with the General Manager in the day-to-day running of the business. This is very much a hands-on operational role. We need someone who is comfortable leading a busy restaurant service, looking after our hotel guests, developing the team, and tackling the unique challenges that come with running a small, busy hotel. We are looking for someone to start as soon as possible. The Role Working alongside the General Manager, you will help oversee the smooth running of the hotel, restaurant, bar, and front-of-house operations. You will occasionally take full responsibility for the operation in the General Manager's absence. Operations & guest experience Lead restaurant and bar services, acting as Manager on Duty and as a visible host for guests. Oversee hotel arrivals, departures, reservations, and guest enquiries. Deal fairly and professionally with guest requests, complaints, and service recovery. Maintain high standards of service and presentation throughout all areas of the business. Open and close the venue, maintaining appropriate security and cash-handling procedures. Team leadership & development Support, train, and develop the front-of-house team, leading by example on the floor. Assist with recruitment, induction, and ongoing staff training. Prepare rotas, ensuring appropriate staffing and management cover. Commercial & stock control Complete beverage stock takes, order stock, and monitor variances. Work with suppliers to check pricing and help control purchasing costs. Support menu development, pricing, and allergen information alongside the kitchen team. Support the General Manager in monitoring revenue, labour costs, food and beverage margins, and overall operational performance. Standards and administration Support the General Manager in maintaining appropriate health and safety standards and procedures across the operation. Take responsibility for administration and cash management procedures when covering for the General Manager. About you We are looking for someone with strong hospitality experience who enjoys being involved in all aspects of the operation. You should be confident leading a team and making decisions, while also being happy to serve a table, check in a hotel guest, help behind the bar or deal with a problem when the situation requires it. Previous hotel management experience would be advantageous, although we would also be interested in an experienced restaurant, food & beverage, or hospitality manager looking to take the next step into a broader management role. The role would suit someone looking to develop towards a General Manager position in the future. You will need to be organised, approachable, and dependable, with great attention to detail and the ability to remain calm when the business is busy. Most importantly, we are looking for someone who leads by example and takes pride in their work, the business and the team around them. What we offer This is an opportunity to take a senior role within a small independent hotel where you will have genuine responsibility and the ability to influence how the business develops. You will work closely with the General Manager and the owners, with the freedom to take ownership of your areas rather than simply following the rigid systems of a large hotel group. Salary Β£35,000 per annum Performance-related bonuses and a share of tips 28 days annual leave including bank holidays Workplace pension Staff discount on food and drink Free parking Simple meals provided while on shift Please note: Early applications are encouraged as we will review applications when we receive them and may close the advert once we have found the right candidate. We will not accept applications from or through recruitment agencies. TPBN1_UKCT
