With HQ in Holborn, London and a global presence in the USA and Europe, my client is now looking to hire a Bookkeeper/Finance Assistant (Xero) to join their Financial Controller in a newly created position due to business growth. This role is the perfect opportunity for an Accounting & Finance Graduate at early stages ACCA/CIMA or an AAT student with 1 - 3 years experience, looking for their next role where they can continue to grow their experience and want to learn more!
Responsibilities
- Reporting to the Financial Controller, working in a small team of two
- Maintain accurate financial records in Xero, including posting invoices, receipts, and payments
- Manage inventory accounting and reconciliation: record inventory movements, reconcile stock, investigate variances, and coordinate with operations to resolve issues
- Validate and post employee expenses; ensure policy compliance and timely reimbursement
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and intercompany transactions (GBP, USD, EURO)
- Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, including accruals and prepayments
- Support preparation of VAT returns and compliance filings
- Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and suppliers
- Support process improvement, policy development, and automation within finance
- Provide ad-hoc reporting and administrative support to the Financial Controller and the management team
- Support with future finance projects (e.g moving on to new ERP systems)
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field, or AAT student
- 1-3 years Bookkeeper or Finance Assistant experience (using Xero/NetSuite) covering similar Key Responsibilities listed
- Multi-currency experience will be advantageous but not essential
- Inventory exposure will be advantageous but not essential
- Excellent communication skills and confidence to communicate with the senior team and business founders
