We work with Lincoln University using the standard 'Level 6 Food Industry Technical Professional', a 48-month programme designed to ensure that technical professionals utilise their knowledge to ensure the smooth transition of food and drink products from farm to fork. They ensure that technical and quality standards are achieved whilst maximising profitability to meet customer requirements.
Closing date for applications: Friday 4th April 2025. Starting salary of c. £22,500 per year with an annual increment dependent on successful progression through the apprenticeship programme and performance in the job role.
Role Purpose
As an Apprentice Process Technologist in the manufacturing sector, you will play a key role in supporting the optimisation and improvement of manufacturing processes. This hands-on apprenticeship offers valuable experience working alongside experienced professionals in the industry. You will develop the technical and analytical skills needed to understand manufacturing processes, troubleshoot issues, implement process improvements, and ensure the safe and efficient operation of equipment.
What you'll be doing:
- Assist in monitoring and analysing manufacturing processes to ensure optimal performance.
- Participate in process troubleshooting, identifying inefficiencies, and suggesting improvements.
- Collect and analyse data to support process adjustments and enhance quality control.
Process Improvement
- Contribute to continuous improvement projects aimed at increasing productivity, reducing waste, and improving product quality.
- Help implement lean manufacturing principles and process automation initiatives.
Quality Assurance
- Support quality assurance and control activities to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and customer requirements.
- Assist in conducting root cause analysis for quality issues and assist in corrective actions.
Health & Safety
- Adhere to health, safety, and environmental standards and procedures.
- Assist in conducting risk assessments and safety audits, reporting any safety hazards.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of process changes, experiments, and performance data.
- Assist in preparing process reports, providing insights and recommendations for process improvements.
Collaboration And Communication
- Work closely with other departments (e.g., Production, Engineering, and Reliability) to optimise the manufacturing process.
- Participate in team meetings and communicate process issues or improvements to Operations and Front-Line managers.
What We Need From You
- 5 GCSE's grade of a minimum of grade 4 (or equivalent) including Maths and English at grade 4 (or equivalent) and Science at grade 4 (or equivalent). IT also being a preferred pass (minimum of grade 4) subject.
- Typically: 3 A levels or relevant industry experience including a Science or Food Technology, minimum of level 2 English and maths.
- Self-managed & self-motivated.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work alone or as part of a team.
- Good attention to detail.
- A high level of technical ability.
