The role sits within Mapletree’s UK Asset Management team, focused on student housing and living sectors across the UK and Europe. The position is designed for a data‑ and Power BI‑experienced professional who wants to work inside an asset management environment, enabling stronger commercial decision‑making through high‑quality analytics, reporting and insight.
This role combines asset management context with ownership of Power BI, portfolio data, and business intelligence frameworks. The individual will be responsible for building, maintaining and evolving the asset and portfolio reporting ecosystem, translating complex operational and financial data into decision‑ready insight for asset managers and senior stakeholders.
This is not a traditional asset manager role and not a standalone IT or reporting function. It is a data intelligence role embedded within asset management, focused on improving how performance, risk and value are understood and acted upon across the portfolio.
Responsibilities- Own and develop the Power BI environment for the UK and European student housing portfolio, including data models, dashboards, reporting standards and visualisations.
- Design and maintain asset‑level and portfolio‑level reporting frameworks covering financial performance, operational metrics, leasing, capex, valuations and returns.
- Translate complex data sets into clear commercial insights that support asset managers in pricing, budgeting, business planning and investment decision‑making.
- Act as the primary point of ownership for data quality, consistency and integrity across asset management reporting, working with internal teams and external partners to resolve gaps and inconsistencies.
- Support annual budgets, reforecasts and business plans through robust analytics, scenario analysis and variance reporting, enhancing insight rather than owning the process.
- Develop performance monitoring tools to identify trends, risks and opportunities across assets and operators, including peer benchmarking and portfolio analytics.
- Lead the evolution of dashboards and self‑service reporting tools, ensuring outputs are intuitive, decision‑focused and aligned with asset management priorities.
- Produce ad‑hoc analysis and insight to support asset reviews, asset optimisation initiatives and investment committee materials.
- Collaborate closely with asset managers, finance, operations and external managers to ensure reporting reflects how assets are actually managed and decisions are made.
- Continuously improve reporting efficiency, automation and usability, reducing manual processes and improving speed and reliability of insight.
- Degree in Real Estate, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Data Analytics or a related discipline.
- Strong hands‑on experience in Power BI, including data modelling, DAX, dashboard design and performance optimisation.
- Proven experience working with complex financial and operational data in a commercial environment, ideally within real estate, student housing or adjacent living sectors.
- Solid understanding of real estate asset performance drivers, financial statements, budgets, forecasts and valuations, with the ability to translate these into meaningful analytics.
- Experience owning and improving reporting frameworks, data quality and business intelligence standards within a team or organisation.
- Highly analytical, detail‑oriented and commercially minded, with the ability to communicate insight clearly to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to challenge, explain and influence through data.
- Self‑motivated, organised and comfortable operating in a fast‑paced asset management environment.
