A fantastic and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Housekeeping to become part of our team at Maples Care Home. This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week on a rota basis between 8.00 am and 7.00 pm, Monday to Sunday.
Job Purpose
To supervise daily domestic and laundry staff to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and a first-class service for residents and the home.
Job Duties
- Understand how to clean various furnishings and equipment according to training and manufacturer’s guidelines.
- Monitor the condition of equipment and machinery used in domestic and laundry functions, reporting issues to maintenance.
- Manage stock levels of cleaning and laundry materials and reorder as needed in consultation with your Line Manager.
- Ensure all resident rooms are prepared and ready for viewings at all times.
- Comply with COSHH regulations and maintain all necessary records.
- Discuss and agree on replacement equipment and machinery with your Line Manager.
- Monitor linen and bedding stocks, arranging repairs and replacements as agreed with your Line Manager.
Management
- Ensure staff under your supervision are aware of and comply with COSHH regulations.
- Ensure staff wear correct uniforms and protective clothing.
- Plan monthly rotas for your department with managerial approval.
- Supervise and appraise staff, encouraging their development.
General
- Maintain a safe and clean environment throughout the building, including stairwells.
- Handle complaints related to domestic and laundry services in line with company policy.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
- Work weekly contracted hours as agreed, including some weekends and public holidays.
- Complete mandatory training to perform your role effectively.
- Facilitate in-house training as needed.
Skills / Requirements / Attributes
- Previous supervisory experience within a housekeeping department.
- NVQ Level 3 supervisor qualification is beneficial.
- Ability to take initiative and improve residents' environment quality.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
