About the Role
The Senior Analyst - IT Asset Manager manages a comprehensive inventory of Global Maples software and hardware assets in the ITSM system, maintaining an effective CMDB from various sources. They support strategic decision-making and cost optimisation, ensuring efficient asset portfolio management for control, risk, compliance, performance, and IT governance. This role requires strong analytical skills and deep asset management knowledge, with a focus on ITSM best practices and leadership in asset categorisation. After data collection and the rollout of an ITAM discovery system, the position offers the chance to improve asset governance and reporting across the group. Candidates should show initiative, motivation, organisational ability, and work well in a collaborative team setting.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Evaluate and improve existing asset management policies, procedures and processes.
- Be responsible for all asset data across the group, ensuring all assets are captured, tracked, updated and retired.
- Implement and maintain processes and procedures to plan, monitor, and record hardware, IaaS / Cloud and software assets to ensure compliance with vendor contracts.
- Build strong relationships with IT teams across the globe to ensure that policies are followed and asset information is correct for each location.
- Create a robust reporting plan to demonstrate the value of ITAM and also the age of the Maples estate for risk and financial planning.
- Perform verification and audit of CMDB content; verify software assets with license contracts, confirm hardware assets with actual inventory, and initiate corrective actions and track them.
- Ensure that data feeds are maintained into the ITSM system for an effective CMDB / Asset Management structure and improve the processes to ensure a good set of data.
- Apply a continuous improvement approach in enhancing the strategies employed in tracking company assets within the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) throughout their lifecycle.
- Manage activities concerning license compliance audits to effectively respond to requests from internal and vendor auditors, ensuring compliance with any ISO or SOC requirements.
- Work with procurement and IT finance functions to assist in licence and cost optimisation, feeding into hardware, application and operating system plans to minimise support risks and ensure the associate asset implications and drivers behind scenarios are understood.
- Be an approver on the purchase ordering process for any assets, ensuring purchases fit within our estate and are captured within the ITAM process.
- Take part in other ITSM processes, or as required perform as a backup to maintain operational activities.
- Work with InfoSec to meet security and risk needs relating to physical and virtual assets. Take ownership of CI reporting and monitoring.

- Previous experience of establishing and maintaining an effective asset management system and creating an effective CMDB.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify issues, compare data, investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Expertise in multiple ITSM disciplines with a solid understanding of the overall requirements of an effective ITSM system as driven from a CMDB.
- The ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and multi-task with minimal supervision while maintaining organisation and preserving strict confidentiality of all information.
- Strong relationship building skills.
- Demonstrate exceptional ability to work within a matrixed environment, collaboratively with colleagues and act as a thought leader / subject matter expert in the asset management discipline.
Additional Skills
- Experience and proficiency with ServiceNow (or other ITSM toolset) is essential.
- Experience of Certero Asset Management is desirable but full training will be provided.
- Procurement and/or contract management experience would be desirable.
- Strong ability to carry out assigned tasks independently with little supervision.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability and gravitas to influence strategy and direction.
- A pro-active nature, with an inherent desire to improve, to be flexible and learn new techniques.
