The Maples Group seeks a Credit Controller for its Leeds office, working in a hybrid schedule. The role focuses on maximizing client turnover and minimizing bad debts in a fast‑paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Day‑to‑day management of the assigned ledger
  • Understand KPI setting and implementation to meet targets
  • Build relationships with partners and fee earners to enforce the collection policy, escalating issues as required
  • Identify clients who default on payment terms and liaise with lawyers/partners on appropriate actions
  • Maintain detailed, accurate notes on debtors in the internal system and ensure the team leader has the necessary data
  • Acquaint yourself with each client’s business and maintain regular meetings with Practice Group Heads and Partners

Qualifications

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multi‑task and deliver quality work within tight deadlines
  • Strong communicator with effective negotiation skills; able to interact positively with all levels within a law firm
  • Proficient in MS Office, especially Word and Excel
  • High attention to detail and ability to handle confidential matters with discretion
  • Self‑motivated with initiative and proactive follow‑up
  • Team player who can adopt a “can‑do” attitude at all times
  • Flexible to work additional hours during month, quarter and year ends to support revenue processes
