About the Role
Maples utilises a mature MECM (Current Branch) infrastructure to support, manage and maintain both its server and desktop environments. This encompasses all aspects of management including operating system builds, operating system patching, application deployment, application patching, Windows Defender and other configuration management tasks such as baselines and reporting. Maples invests heavily in its security posture, with a shift in recent years to a more managed environment utilising technologies such as application whitelisting and group policy. There is a requirement to expand the team in order to provide sufficient support to the business.
The Configuration Management Engineer will work as part of the Configuration Management Team and provide support to the business, managing the incident and task queues as appropriate. There will also be a requirement to be involved in projects, enhancements and initiatives undertaken in order to improve the overall end‑user experience. Utilising a follow‑the‑sun model, they will provide all regions with an escalation point for issues and queries relating to technologies the team is responsible for.
Responsibilities
- Manage the incident and task queue, ensuring tickets are picked up and actioned in accordance with SLAs and KPIs.
- Troubleshoot issues and assist local support and other infrastructure teams relating to the desktop and server estate.
- Package and deploy applications, and assist with the management of the application deployment process at Maples.
- Provide support for operating systems deployments (OSD) and troubleshoot any issues that occur.
- Assist with the patching process, ensuring all systems are patched in accordance with requirements and monitor deployment success.
- Write and maintain knowledge‑base articles on both underlying infrastructure and processes, and end‑user fixes for the helpdesk.
- Ensure documentation is complete and maintained.
