About the Role The E-Billing Analyst plays a critical role within the Finance function of a leading global law firm, ensuring the successful submission and acceptance of electronic bills through client e-billing platforms. The role holder will be responsible for managing the end-to-end e-billing process, resolving rejections and queries, and liaising closely with fee-earning teams to maintain billing accuracy and ensure timely revenue collection. Given the firm’s international presence, the role may involve working across multiple time zones and collaborating with teams in various jurisdictions to meet client-specific billing requirements and deadlines.

  • Manage the submission of electronic bills to clients via e-billing platforms, ensuring timely and accurate delivery in accordance with client guidelines
  • Monitor e-bill status and proactively identify rejections, discrepancies, and errors; investigate root causes and implement corrective actions to achieve successful acceptance
  • Liaise with fee-earning teams (partners, associates, secretaries and billing teams) to obtain accurate billing data, resolve queries, and ensure compliance with client billing requirements
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of client-specific e-billing rules, rate arrangements, and LEDES format requirements
  • Work closely with the wider Finance and Revenue teams to support cash collection targets and reduce aged work-in-progress
  • Manage high volumes of e-bills, prioritising workload effectively to meet SLAs
  • Identify opportunities to improve e-billing processes and contribute to automation and efficiency initiatives

EXPERIENCE In addition to indisputably high ethical standards and autonomy, the ideal candidate possesses the following:

  • Demonstrable experience in an e-billing, legal billing, or revenue-related role, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment
  • A solid understanding of e-billing workflows, including bill submission, validation, rejection management, and resubmission processes
  • Familiarity with LEDES billing formats (including LEDES 1998B and LEDES 2000) and UTBMS task and activity codes
  • Previous experience using Aderant and/or Bill Blast would be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with major e-billing platforms such as Legal Tracker (Thomson Reuters), Tymetrix/CounselLink (Wolters Kluwer), Collaborati (BrightFlag), or similar vendor systems
  • A background in finance, accounting, or legal billing, with relevant qualifications such as AAT, ACCA (part-qualified), or an equivalent qualification considered advantageous
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with fee earners, clients, and finance colleagues at all levels
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to investigate rejection reasons, identify patterns, and implement sustainable solutions
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and bill review
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work under pressure to meet tight, recurring deadlines
  • Strong organisational skills with the capacity to handle high volumes of transactions efficiently
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to work across multiple time zones, as required, to support the firm’s global operations
