Are you an enthusiastic and dedicated educator looking to make a real impact on young minds? We are seeking a motivated and inspiring HLTA to join our dynamic team and help shape the future of our students. This role is working 3 days per week (Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays).
What you’ll be doing:
- Supporting class groups with their therapeutic and intervention needs.
- Monitoring and tracking pupil progress in social skills.
- Delivering lessons or interventions under the instruction of the therapy/pastoral team.
- Supporting pupil welfare and wellbeing.
- Adhering to the school’s systems, structures, policies and procedures.
- Actively supporting school activities where required, including attending educational trips, extra-curricular activities and parents’ evenings, which may require some out-of-hours availability.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with parents and carers and colleagues.
What we’re looking for:
- GCSE or equivalent qualifications, to include English and Maths.
- Evidence of CPD or an interest in learning.
- Effective communication with parents and carers.
- Excellent inter-personal skills.
- Good personal organisation.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Awareness of the needs of a range of neurodiverse students (desirable).
- Knowledge of the effects of ACEs and trauma on children (desirable).

Who are we?
Hawley Woods School provides a specialist environment and support primarily for autistic children and those needing a similarly adapted approach with small classes of 6-8 pupils within our calm, nurturing setting. Our school caters for children from the age of 7 up to 16 years (Key Stages 2, 3 and 4). We help children with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) who may be struggling to keep up with the pace of work, may be losing confidence, or struggling with the overwhelming sensory environment of their mainstream school. We also help children who have been out of education for a period of time, to positively re-engage in an education which takes into account any negative experiences they may have had in schools so far. Hawley Woods School is part of Kedleston Group. We specialise in providing specialist education for children aged 7-19 with a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). These include autistic spectrum condition (ASC), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and social emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).
