Are you an enthusiastic and dedicated educator looking to make a real impact on young minds? We are seeking a motivated and inspiring SEN Teacher to join our growing school and help shape the future of our children and young people as part of a dynamic team. Starting in September, this role is required as we expand our cohort in our new purpose-built building.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Plan and deliver outstanding teaching and learning using proven methods and approaches that enable autistic young people to learn.
  • Be a class tutor, ensuring pastoral needs are met and establishing excellent relationships with parents and carers.
  • Teach a range of subjects across the core curriculum up to KS3 level.
  • Plan and deliver lessons which teach essential life skills.
  • Build team commitment with colleagues and in the classroom.
  • Engage in whole school activities as required by the Headteacher.
  • Plan and lead children in off-site enrichment activities.

What we’re looking for:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience of working with children and young people with SEND and ASC.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to inspire and motivate children and young people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A qualification in SEND education is desirable.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and innovation in teaching methods.
  • Previous experience of delivering the curriculum using innovative approaches and adapting to pupil needs.
  • We encourage applicants with experience in any curriculum area but confidence in teaching any of the following subjects is particularly desirable: Food technology, ICT, PSHE, English or Science.

Opened in 2018, Oakbridge School is an independent special day school in Birmingham with a specially designed learning environment created to meet the needs of autistic children. We provide a calm, low arousal, safe, positive and nurturing place where young people can learn and grow. Oakbridge School is part of Kedleston Group. We specialise in providing specialist education and care for children aged 7-19 with a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). These include autistic spectrum condition (ASC), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and social emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).
