Climax is one of the leading creative lights of independent games development with an outstanding line of top published titles. It truly is an exciting and inspiring place to work in the heart of Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth Harbour.
We are looking for a designer that can work closely with all disciplines of the team; helping us to bridge the gap between code, system design and level design. Working most closely with the system designer and the level designers, the Systems Integrator will take new systems that come online and integrate them in the levels that have already been built and signed off. Using a rational level design approach, the Systems Integrator will also help to ensure the difficulty curve is fun and challenging through all levels of the game.
Responsibilities:- AI scripting and making the enemies look as believable as possible
- Taking ownership for testing new systems and propagating them through the levels - working with code where necessary
- Boss sequence scripting
- Maintaining a constant difficulty through the game
- Pick up placement and balancing
- Helping the system designer import animations from the animation team and getting them in to the engine (Unreal 3)
- Tracking asset production from VFX and the animation team
- Documentation where necessary
