What You'll Do
Mapbox is looking for a talented and innovated Software Development Engineer II to join our Studio team. As a Software Development Engineer II (Fullstack), you can expect to:
- Lead contributions to Mapbox Studio, our flagship map design tool.
Studio is a complex React / Redux app that requires fluency in Javascript, Typescript, and web technologies.
Ship simple, approachable, performant, testable code.
- Facilitate and make informed technical decisions that drive the long term vision for maps at Mapbox.
- Build workflow tools that enable our map designers to create beautiful maps faster and easier.
- Solve complex architecture problems in an extensible, maintainable way. Bring clarity to complex technical problems across the organization.
- Participate in the design process by listening to users, attending design critiques, and providing guidance and feedback informed by a deep understanding of technical constraints.
- Reduce technical debt, share your knowledge, and invest in your teammates’ health and happiness, while optimizing application performance and accelerating feature velocity.
- Promote a culture of operational excellence by meticulously testing and monitoring our systems and code, writing documentation, and being on-call to support the health of our services.

Optimization: A sophisticated understanding of frontend architecture for large-scale, data-intensive applications, with a focus on memory management and rendering efficiency.

- State Management Mastery: You are proficient in designing complex application and component states using solutions like Redux, ensuring scalable and maintainable data flow.

- Quality Assurance: You are comfortable working with testing frameworks such as Playwright or Jest to ensure code reliability and performance.
