We are working with a Tier 1 main contractor renowned for delivering flagship, technically complex projects across the UK, with individual project values reaching up to £150m. The business has a strong reputation for quality, innovation, and developing talent internally.
Due to securing a major new scheme, they are now looking to strengthen their commercial team on a landmark £80m Life Sciences project based in Oxford.
The Project
This is a high-profile, technically demanding life sciences development with a 3-year programme, offering long-term stability and the chance to be embedded on a prestigious scheme from early stages through to completion.
The Role
The contractor is seeking a Quantity Surveyor ready to step into a Senior role, or an established Senior QS looking for a flagship project with real responsibility.
You will play a key role in the commercial management of the project, working closely with the Commercial Manager and wider project team.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Full commercial management of packages on a major life sciences scheme
- Procurement and management of subcontractors
- Valuations, variations, and change control
- Cost reporting, forecasting, and cash flow management
- Supporting and mentoring junior members of the commercial team
- Managing risk and supporting final accounts
- Working collaboratively with site, design, and client teams
The Ideal Candidate
- Strong background as a Quantity Surveyor within main contracting
- Experience delivering large, complex projects (ideally £30m+; life sciences or similar technical sectors beneficial but not essential)
- Commercially astute and confident managing key packages independently
- Ready to take the next step into a Senior Quantity Surveyor position
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work within a Tier 1 project environment
