The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Freelance Site Engineer / Setting out Engineer for a groundworks scheme involving extensive drainage, hardstanding construction, surfacing and associated infrastructure works.

About the Contractor

Our client is an established UK groundworks contractor known for their collaborative approach, strong technical expertise, and ability to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to high quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Setting out, surveying, and carrying out QA checks across all civils and groundworks package
  • Ensuring all works meet design specifications, drawings, and safety standards
  • Coordinating with project manager
  • Producing accurate reports, maintaining records, and monitoring progress
  • Supporting safe, efficient site delivery from earthworks through to final surfacing and landscaping

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Site Engineer on groundworks, infrastructure, or industrial projects
  • Strong setting out and QA background
  • Proficient with Total Station and AutoCAD
  • Relevant qualification (Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering or related field)
  • CSCS card essential
