Map Room is supporting a customer to identify a Senior Web Application Developer. This role will be ideal for a candidate who genuinely enjoys programming and wants to play a key role in building enterprise-grade web applications. You'll be part of the Core Engineering team, working closely with the Development Manager, delivering high-quality systems primarily in F#, while also leading small project teams and influencing technical direction. This is not a maintenance role — it’s a hands-on engineering position with architectural input and leadership responsibility.
Role Focus:
- Designing, developing and supporting enterprise web applications
- Translating business requirements into scalable technical solutions
- Specifying systems, features and processes
- Estimating project scope, timelines and resources
- Writing SQL queries and reporting against SQL Server
- Maintaining secure, compliant and up-to-date dependencies
- Ensuring the correct packaging and delivery of software
- Managing small development teams or leading defined workstreams
- Contributing to engineering best practice and quality standards
You’ll also be expected to become a subject matter expert in existing systems and guide clients or stakeholders toward the best technical solution.
Technical Environment: You’ll be working with:
- ASP.NET Core (.NET 10+)
- Fable / Fable React / Elmish (F# to JS transpilation SAFE Stack)
- Webpack
- SQL Server
- SASS
Essential:
- 2:1 or First in a Science/Engineering discipline
- Strong commercial experience building modern web applications
- Deep understanding of APIs and distributed systems
- Experience with modern front-end architecture and tooling
- Confidence in communicating technical decisions to stakeholders
