Principal Psychologist – York

Working from a medium secure hospital in York, this role is based at an independent facility treating NHS patients. We collaborate closely with NHS colleagues and the Humber and North Yorkshire Provider Collaborative to achieve the best outcomes for our patients.

We are seeking a motivated HCPC Registered Practitioner Psychologist with experience working with women, particularly in forensic mental health settings.

The role involves joining a multi-disciplinary team in our female service, offering leadership, consultancy, assessment, and interventions.

Ideal candidates will have training and experience in trauma-focused psychological models, such as CBT for trauma or EMDR, with an opportunity to implement Radically Open DBT (RO-DBT).

The Facility is known for producing positive clinical outcomes for complex patients through various therapeutic interventions. We accommodate diverse diagnoses, including autism spectrum disorder and personality disorders, allowing for the development of a broad range of clinical competencies.

Although the core focus is on the women’s service, psychologists work across wards, conducting risk assessments and providing interventions for issues like substance misuse and anger management. Continuous professional development is supported, with various therapeutic modalities currently in use. The hospital aims to embed a trauma-informed approach to care. Your role will include promoting this approach, staff training, and clinical supervision.
