Senior Immigration Lawyer – Corporate & Personal Immigration
London | Permanent or Fixed-Term Contract
I’m working with a highly regarded, full-service commercial firm that wants to hire an experienced immigration lawyer for its established Employment & Immigration practice. It’s a senior role. You’ll advise a wide range of employers on UK business immigration and also run a varied personal immigration caseload. The role suits someone who wants to own client relationships and help shape a practice that’s growing.
The firm will consider candidates looking for either a permanent role or a fixed-term contract, so it may suit people who want more flexibility in their next move.
The role
You’ll give practical, commercial advice to organisations handling an increasingly complex immigration system. The work includes:
- Sponsor licence applications, and ongoing licence management and compliance
- Sponsoring workers, including Certificates of Sponsorship and work visa applications
- Right-to-work requirements and wider immigration risk
- Immigration compliance audits, helping clients find and fix areas of exposure
- Personal immigration matters, including Indefinite Leave to Remain, Global Talent, dependant visas and Schengen visas
- Immigration issues arising from recruitment, workforce planning and international moves of employees
- Tailored training for HR, recruitment, legal and management teams on right-to-work and sponsor licence duties
- Helping clients develop sound immigration policies and procedures
You’ll work closely with employment lawyers and other specialist teams, so there’s real scope for matters that sit between immigration and employment law.
What you’ll bring
- Strong experience advising employers on UK corporate immigration
- Solid experience of personal immigration work, including ILR, Global Talent and Schengen visas
- Detailed knowledge of the sponsor licence regime, sponsored work routes and employer compliance duties
- Confidence advising on right-to-work issues and immigration risk
- The ability to run complex matters independently, from instruction to completion
- A talent for turning complex rules into clear, practical advice
- Good commercial judgement and an understanding of the business context clients work in
- Strong client and stakeholder management skills, particularly with HR, People and senior business contacts
- Enthusiasm for business development, such as training, seminars, briefings and articles
- Experience supervising and developing junior colleagues, and a collaborative approach across teams
What will make you stand out
- Significant experience acting for both employers and individuals
- A track record on complex sponsor licence and compliance matters
- Experience delivering client training and immigration audits
- Experience of matters where immigration and employment law overlap
- A genuine interest in growing client relationships and raising the practice’s profile
Why this role?
This is a chance to join a supportive, established team where your seniority is recognised from day one. You’ll own key relationships, mentor others and have a real say in where the practice goes next. There’s also flexibility on whether you join permanently or on a fixed-term contract.
