Compliance Senior Specialist in Hamilton

This role provides expertise and consultation to the Bermuda Business Unit (BU), Global High Net Worth (GHNW), and Asia Segment Compliance for initiatives that may include the following:· Anti-Money Laundering/Anti-Terrorist Financing Program management:Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) reviews of new business applicants, inforce High Risk customers, banks, and third-party partnersAML alert reviews (watchlist and transaction monitoring)Review of Real Time watchlist scans and automated batch scansOwnership structure due diligence reviewsPayor due diligence reviews· Privacy Program management and incident reporting/handling· Monthly and quarterly Compliance reporting· Establishing and updating policies and procedures· Compliance training of employeesThis job description does not represent a comprehensive listing of job duties that are required of the employee performing this role. We reserve the right to change duties or assign additional duties at any time with or without notice.Responsibilities:Individual Responsibilities:Acting as an Individual Contributor, sets direction, establishing goals and manages the tasks of the Compliance function; supporting Senior Compliance Consultants and the Compliance Director/Chief Compliance OfficerEstablishes and maintains strong working relationships with the BU team, such as Underwriting, Titles, and Distribution, as well as related compliance teamsCoordinates and performs analysis on complex concepts that may require in-depth research and interpretation, such as New Business case reviewsSupports the BU in the development and implementation of policies and procedures that enable the business to remain in Compliance with regulatory requirementsLeads and supports special projectsCreates and provides Compliance trainingCompletes required reporting for the function at the BU, segment or divisional levelMay represent Compliance on BU-specific, division-wide or global projects.Collaborates with all areas of the organization to ensure Compliance needs and BU goals are met.Shared Responsibilities:Shares best practices with other team members, thus ensuring consistency across BUs and division in the way business/process/products are developed and maintained to comply with Regulatory and Company requirements.Aids the other members of the Bermuda Compliance team including the Senior Compliance Consultants, Compliance Director and/or Chief Compliance Officer.Shares responsibility for ensuring the BU understands what is needed to comply.Qualifications:College/University Degree and/or equivalent experience5+ years of related financial services, Compliance or management experienceExcellent organizational skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong technology skills including knowledge of applicable Compliance or business systemsExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong ethical compassDisciplinedComprehensive knowledge of the financial services industry with an advanced understanding of the Company’s businessesAdvanced understanding of the regulatory environment (primarily Bermuda and Canada) and a strong understanding of key compliance requirements applicable to the business.Negotiating, influencing, and relationship building skills.Ability to represent business internally within the company and externally outside of the company (e.g. regulators, industry peers).Ability to work independentlyStrong project management skillsAbility to facilitate decision making across groups in the companyRelevant certifications, such as CAMS, or willingness to obtain certification(s) a plusStrong people/interpersonal and leadership skillsStrong business and product knowledgeAbility to interact with roles from different areas and at all levels across the organizationAbility to analyze technical information, make appropriate recommendations to decision makers and ability to make decisionsDecision Authorities:Able to make decisions regarding ComplianceAble to prioritize and reprioritize work deliverables and projects based on changing business needsManaging internal and external resources to achieve targetsWhen you join our team:We’ll empower you to learn and grow the career you want.We’ll recognize and support you in a flexible environment where well-being and inclusion are more than just words.As part of our global team, we’ll support you in shaping the future you want to see.Salary range for this position in Boston is 73,350.00 - 122,250.00 USD AnnualAbout Manulife and John HancockManulife Financial Corporation is a leading international financial services provider, helping people make their decisions easier and lives better.
