The Role
We are seeking a Senior Research Engineer to join our Automation team in Coventry. This role focuses on technical project leadership and mentoring junior engineers within the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead project technical deliverables, ensuring they meet or exceed customer requirements within budget and timeframes.
- Oversee technical governance within your area of expertise, promoting best practices.
- Develop and implement mentoring strategies for the Automation team.
- Identify, specify, and deliver innovative technology capabilities into the MTC, focusing on TRL/MRL 3+ research.
Essential Skills/Qualifications
- Automation Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
- Experience with automation control systems and ethernet-based networks.
- Proficiency in IEC PLC programming languages and experience with Siemens or Beckhoff platforms.
- Experience with HMI and SCADA applications.
- Structured problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and within a team.
- Understanding of process and policy adherence to maintain confidentiality.
- Hands-on problem-solving approach and system design and optimization experience.
- Effective communication skills and team collaboration.
Desirable Skills/Qualifications
- Knowledge of automation cell safety standards, Industry 4.0/5.0, sensing, pneumatics, high-level programming languages, and robotics including ROS2.
