We are now looking for an Apprenticeship Skills Coach to join our team on a maternity cover basis — someone who shares our commitment to excellence, curiosity and learner-centred development.
Responsibilities
- Guide engineering and manufacturing apprentices through their learning journey, ensuring they receive the support, challenge and encouragement needed to succeed.
- Help learners bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world application, working closely with employers to embed meaningful workplace learning.
- Contribute to the development of curriculum content that reflects industry practice and enhances the learner experience.
- Manage a caseload of engineering and manufacturing apprentices.
- Conduct regular progress reviews with apprentices and employers.
- Provide clear, end-to-end guidance on skills development, EPA preparation and career progression.
- Monitor progress against apprenticeship standards and ensure apprentices are EPA-ready.
- Plan and complete assessments of knowledge, skills and behaviours.
- Use coaching approaches to help apprentices apply learning confidently in the workplace.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including off-the-job training and funding compliance.
- Build strong, professional relationships with apprentices and employers.
- Collaborate with colleagues across delivery and business development.

- A strong engineering background (mechanical, electrical, electronic or multi-skilled).
- Understanding of assessment methods, coaching techniques and apprenticeship standards.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with diverse learners.
- High levels of organisation, attention to detail and professionalism.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- A commitment to safeguarding and learner wellbeing.
Qualifications
Essential:
- Level 3 Engineering qualification.
- Teaching qualification or willingness to gain one.
- Assessor qualification (A1 / CAVA) or willingness to gain one.
Desirable:
- Maths and English Level 2.
- IQA qualification (V1 / L4 IQA).
- Coaching qualification.
- Higher-level engineering qualification (Level 4+).
- Experience with Smart Assessor or ProMonitor.
