About the Role

We’re looking for an ambitious and experienced Site Technical Manager to take the lead on food safety, quality, legality and compliance at a busy manufacturing site in Somerset. This is a high-impact role where you’ll have genuine ownership, influence site-wide standards and work closely with senior operational teams to drive technical excellence, continuous improvement and a strong food safety culture.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the Technical Team, developing capability and driving high performance.
  • Owning the site’s food safety, quality and legality systems.
  • Leading HACCP, VACCP and TACCP activities.
  • Driving compliance against BRCGS, customer standards, certification requirements and export legislation.
  • Taking the lead during customer audits, certification audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Working closely with Operations and the wider Site Management Team to ensure technical compliance across projects and change.
  • Developing Technical KPIs and using data to identify and deliver improvements.
  • Managing supplier and traded goods approval and performance.
  • Overseeing product specifications and technical documentation.
  • Championing and embedding a strong food safety culture throughout the site.
  • Identifying new and innovative ways to improve technical and operational performance.

Qualifications

A relevant Food Science or related qualification, together with experience of export/multi-market compliance or continuous improvement methodologies, would be advantageous.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a Technical Management role within food manufacturing.
  • A strong track record of leading and developing technical teams.
  • Extensive experience of audit leadership, including customer, certification and regulatory audits.
  • Strong knowledge of BRCGS, HACCP, food safety, quality systems and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to influence decision-making at site level.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach and a genuine passion for continuous improvement.

Preferred Skills

Experience in export/multi-market compliance or continuous improvement methodologies would be advantageous.
