We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Officer to join our Food Manufacturing site in Birmingham. This is a key, hands-on role within the Site Management Team, reporting directly to the Group Health & Safety Manager.
You will be responsible for ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety legislation and internal standards across the site, working closely with colleagues across all departments. This is a varied and fast-paced role, ideal for someone who enjoys being visible on the shop floor and influencing positive safety culture. Occasional travel within the UK to other company sites and customer offices will be required.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure all Health & Safety policies, procedures, and legal requirements are implemented and maintained on site
- Support and work closely with the Group Health & Safety Manager on site and group-wide initiatives
- Carry out risk assessments, audits, inspections, and accident investigations
- Promote a positive Health & Safety culture across all departments
- Provide guidance, advice, and training to managers and employees
- Monitor compliance, report on performance, and drive continuous improvement
- Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders as required
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous Health & Safety experience within a manufacturing environment (food manufacturing desirable)
- NEBOSH qualification (or equivalent)
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a changing workload
- Excellent communication and influencing skills at all levels
- Good IT skills; SAP knowledge would be advantageous
- A proactive, hands-on approach with a positive, can-do attitude
- Flexibility to travel occasionally within the UK
