Manthorpe Building Products is seeking a Product Designer to join our Product Development team. You will work closely with Development, Sales and Production teams to bring new products to market and enhance our existing range.
Responsibilities
- Research market trends, industry developments and customer requirements to identify opportunities for new products and product improvements.
- Create design briefs and technical specifications to support product development projects.
- Produce concept designs using sketching, modelling, CAD and rapid prototyping techniques.
- Develop concepts into commercially viable products through selection of suitable materials and manufacturing processes.
- Create and maintain technical drawings and engineering documentation.
- Test and evaluate prototypes and finished products to ensure compliance with relevant standards and performance requirements.
- Produce technical literature, installation guides and supporting documentation.
- Provide technical support and product expertise across the wider business.
- Support manufacturing improvement initiatives through research, analysis and practical problem-solving.
- Collaborate with production, quality, supply chain and commercial teams to ensure successful product delivery.
- Contribute to continuous improvement projects that enhance quality, efficiency, sustainability and safety.
Qualifications
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Product Design, Industrial Design, Engineering Design or a related discipline.
- Experience using 3D CAD software, ideally Creo Parametric (Pro Engineer).
- A strong understanding of engineering and product development principles.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across multiple departments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience using Adobe Creative Suite is advantageous.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- A proactive approach and genuine interest in innovation and continuous improvement.
