Overview
MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Mechanical Material Planner to join our team in Norfolk, VA. This is an onsite position.
Responsibilities
- Utilize technical manuals, drawings, sketches, hit kits, job summaries; plans and Engineering Method & Standards to develop cost estimates.
- Obtain estimates from vendors and contractors to supply complete material assemblies for installation aboard ships.
- Support ordering all types of material, including Level One IAW Navy’s Level I Program (NAVSEA 0945- LP-045-7010), Mil Spec, Rentals, Services, and Hazardous Materials IAW Navy, Corporate and OSHE specifications.
- Capable of using NAVSEA/NNSY computer programs/applications: IHS, MAT, WEB MRQT, AIM, E-MALL, SHOP STORES CATALOG, LEVEL ONE TOOL KIT, NAVICP, and CDMDOA.
- Uses Web MRQT and Web MATP, these are public shipyard databases.
- Ship check for interferences, support development of production estimates and issued technical working documents, which include Job Summaries, Task Group Instructions (TGI’s), and Deficiency Forms (DF’s).
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 5+ years of experience in material planning, logistics, or expediting roles in a mechanical or manufacturing environment
- Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple departments
- Experience working with ERP systems and material tracking tools
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's Degree or higher in Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related technical field
- Familiarity with mechanical components, engineering drawings, and bill of materials (BOMs)
- Experience with lean manufacturing or just-in-time (JIT) inventory principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and inventory software tools
- US Military experience
- Familiarity with NAVSEA instructions associated with the installation of Non-Nuclear Temporary Services and Shipyard Support System for Naval Vessels
Clearance Requirements
Must have a current and active Secret Security Clearance
Physical Requirements
Needs to occasionally move about inside the office or production floor to access files, materials, or equipment. Frequently communicates with co-workers and teams to coordinate activities. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
