Profile Senior Legal Counsel - Oil & Gas Contracts
Suriname and Guyana are one of the most exciting offshore oil and gas frontiers in the world. On behalf of our client, we are looking for a Senior Legal Counsel – Oil & Gas Contracts to lead the offshore legal team and to advise executive management on the contracts that shape the country's offshore future.

What you'll do
Lead and coach the legal team supporting the offshore business.
Draft, review and negotiate Production Sharing Contracts (PSCs), Joint Operating Agreements (JOAs) and other complex petroleum agreements.
Advise executive management on legal, contractual and strategic offshore matters.
Monitor contractual obligations and ensure compliance with petroleum and mining legislation.
Advise on potential disputes and on international developments in the upstream oil and gas sector.
What you bring
A law degree (LLB, LLM, JD or equivalent).
15+ years of relevant legal experience, including substantial time at senior level in a corporate or similarly complex environment.
Proven upstream oil and gas experience, including drafting and negotiating PSCs and JOAs.
Strong knowledge of petroleum law, contract law and international regulation.
Experience advising senior management in an international, multidisciplinary setting.
Excellent English.

Dutch (Suriname's official language).
Experience on both operator and non-operator sides of upstream contracts.
Experience with international arbitration in the energy sector.
