A well-established precision engineering business is looking to recruit a Design Engineer to join their growing engineering team. This is an opportunity to work on complex, high-specification products within a technically demanding environment, supporting both new product development and customer-driven design solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret customer specifications and translate them into engineered design solutions
- Produce 3D models, engineering drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for manufacture
- Design and develop new products using 3D CAD
- Carry out engineering calculations and document findings clearly
- Perform FEA analysis where required to validate designs
- Analyse and document test data to ensure compliance with specifications
- Ensure designs meet relevant industry standards (API, ISO, PED, ASME VIII)
- Apply Design for Manufacture & Assembly (DFM/DFA) principles
- Support the transition of new products into production
- Check drawings and BOMs for accuracy and completeness
- Contribute to continuous improvement and problem-solving initiatives
- Act as a technical point of contact internally and occasionally with customers
- Mentor junior engineers and support wider engineering activities
- Participate in meetings across departments and occasionally attend customer sites
- Support overall engineering strategy and departmental development
