This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on Mechanical Fitter to join a growing engineering and manufacturing business. The role would suit someone with a strong mechanical background, capable of assembling, fitting, and working with a variety of components, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
The position is primarily workshop-based, with responsibility for producing assemblies to a high standard of quality and precision. You’ll be working from engineering drawings and instructions, supporting the build of complex assemblies, and ensuring products meet required specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic components and sub-assemblies as required.
- Support the build of fabricated assemblies from scratch, including marking out, cutting, folding, pipe bending, weld joint preparation, and hydraulic/pneumatic runs.
- Work from manufacturing, general arrangement, and sub-assembly drawings.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools to assemble small and large fabricated components.
- Check completed assemblies for alignment, dimensions, and quality.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety policies and safe working practices.
- Work both independently and as part of a team to deliver on production requirements.
- Carry out any additional reasonable duties as required.
The Candidate
- Solid engineering background with hands-on assembly experience.
- Able to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Skilled in the use of hand and power tools.
- Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrics.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work on own initiative.
- A keen eye for detail with a focus on quality.
- Team player with good communication skills.
- Basic electrical assembly skills and the ability to read circuit drawings are desirable but not essential.
Salary
£25,000 – £33,000 per year, plus plenty of overtime and bonus (depending on skills and experience).
