A growing engineering organisation at the forefront of advanced manufacturing is looking for a Software Engineer whose primary focus will be the development of in-house software tools and their integration with manufacturing hardware and equipment. The role supports automation, data capture, and continuous improvement across production operations. Based in Crawley, this is a great opportunity to build a long-term career with clear development and progression opportunities.
The Role
- Develop and maintain in-house software tools for manufacturing operations
- Integrate software with manufacturing equipment, automation systems, and hardware
- Work closely with Manufacturing, Production, Quality, Automation, IT, and NPI teams
- Support automation of data collection, reporting, and real-time monitoring
- Contribute to continuous improvement projects and new product introductions
- Create and maintain technical documentation and manage version control
- Provide training and ongoing support to end users
About You
- Degree in Software, Electrical Engineering, or similar (or equivalent experience)
- 1+ years’ software development experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment
- Experience with Python or similar, Visual Studio, and Git/SVN
- Strong SQL Server skills for querying, reporting, and data analysis
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and production workflows
- A collaborative problem-solver with good communication skills
Desirable (Not Essential)
- ERP / PLM systems (JDE, Enovia, Oracle)
- NPD experience or exposure to Emerson products
- Agile, Power Automate, or cybersecurity awareness
- Electronics or embedded systems knowledge
The Package
£30,000 – £60,000 per annum (dependent on experience). Career development and progression opportunities.
