As a CNC Setter & Operator (Mills), you will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC milling machines to produce high-precision components. You will ensure quality standards are met while maintaining efficiency and adhering to company procedures.
Key Duties
- Set and operate CNC milling machines to produce components to required tolerances.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications.
- Adjust machine settings, tooling, and offsets to optimize production.
- Monitor machining processes and inspect finished parts for accuracy and quality.
- Maintain and organise tooling, ensuring everything is in good working order.
- Report any production issues, tooling wear, or drawing discrepancies to the supervisor.
- Ensure targets are met or improved upon where set by management.
- Maintain compliance with company health and safety regulations.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and problem-solving within the workshop.
- Attend training sessions as required to enhance skills and knowledge.
The Candidate
- Apprentice trained or time-served engineer with NVQ / HNC / HND in Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline.
- Previous experience in CNC machining, ideally within a precision engineering environment.
- Skilled in setting and operating FANUC, HAAS, Heidenhain, or Mazatrol controlled CNC mills.
- Ability to work from engineering drawings and meet tight tolerances.
- Knowledge of cutting speeds, feeds, and tooling selection for various materials.
- Experience with programming (desirable but not essential – training can be provided).
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
