A leading UK-based engineering manufacturer is currently seeking an experienced Buyer to join their close-knit and supportive purchasing team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established, forward-thinking business that designs and manufactures high-performance, bespoke equipment for the food processing industry. You will play a key role in supporting operations by ensuring materials, components, and services are sourced efficiently, cost-effectively, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Negotiate pricing and discounts with suppliers
- Place and chase purchase orders across a wide range of items
- Set up and manage service contracts and manage breakdown responses
- Maintain appropriate stock levels
- Obtain competitive quotes and source alternative suppliers
- Secure approvals for high-value orders
- Support the sourcing of new plant and machinery with Engineering and Operations
- Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier data
- Ensure purchasing quality and compliance
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Buying role
- Engineering or manufacturing purchasing experience is highly desirable
