This role is responsible for leading and developing a UK-based manufacturer, ensuring the efficient, safe, and high-quality manufacture of engineered consumable products. The post holder will drive operational excellence through continuous improvement, lean manufacturing practices, and strong people leadership, while ensuring customer requirements are consistently met.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day production and logistics activities to achieve quality, cost, delivery, and safety targets
- Create a high performing, engaged team culture focused on accountability and continuous improvement
- Ensure manufacturing operations run efficiently, safely, and in line with business and customer expectations
- Take ownership of production output, quality standards, and cost control across manufacturing operations
- Lead, coach, and develop production and logistics teams to maximise performance and engagement
- Identify operational constraints and implement effective corrective actions
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing tools and techniques
- Set, monitor, and analyse operational KPIs, implementing actions to improve productivity and reduce waste
- Ensure full compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation and internal safety standards
- Manage shift patterns, workload planning, and goods-in / goods-out activities
- Oversee stock control of raw materials and finished goods, working closely with procurement functions
- Ensure production and logistics activities align with wider business objectives and customer needs
- Prepare regular operational reports covering output, stock levels, and performance metrics
- Ensure manufacturing equipment is maintained effectively, coordinating preventative maintenance activities
Experience & Skills
- Proven experience managing teams within a manufacturing or production environment
- Mechanically minded individual
- Strong leadership skills with a track record of meeting production KPIs
- Solid understanding and practical application of lean manufacturing principles
- Experience working with production planning systems or ERP software (desirable)
- Background in CNC machining or mechanical manufacturing processes (desirable)
Salary
£40,000- £50,000 depending on skillset and experience
