We are working in partnership with a well-established and growing manufacturing business within the precision engineering sector, supplying into high-performance automotive and motorsport environments. Due to continued expansion, they are looking to appoint a Quality Inspector to strengthen their Quality function. This position would suit an experienced inspector with strong attention to detail, confidence using modern measuring equipment, and the ability to work to demanding industry standards and customer requirements.
The Role
As Quality Inspector, you will be responsible for carrying out dimensional and visual inspections of machined and assembled components, ensuring they meet engineering drawings and customer specifications. You will also support wider quality activities, including PPAP submissions, IMDS requirements, and ISO9001 compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect machined and assembled components against engineering drawings and quality requirements
- Use precision measuring equipment, including Sylvac tools (Roamer arm, verniers, micrometers, gauges)
- Operate Keyence image dimensional measurement systems
- Produce inspection reports and maintain accurate records
- Raise and support management of Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)
- Support PPAP sample submissions and associated documentation
- Support IMDS data entry and material compliance activity
- Participate in investigation and corrective action processes to resolve quality issues
- Support maintenance and continuous improvement of the ISO9001 quality management system
- Manage calibration and maintenance of inspection and measurement equipment
Candidate Requirements (Essential)
- Experience in a Quality Inspection role within precision engineering, automotive manufacturing or motorsport
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Familiarity with PPAP and IMDS processes
- Working knowledge of ISO9001 standards
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office
- High attention to detail, with strong documentation accuracy
Desirable Experience
- Exposure to IATF16949 standards
- Engineering / manufacturing-related qualification, or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools
