Our client is a well-established engineering business based in Milton Keynes, supplying technical products and solutions to a range of industrial customers. They are looking for a Trainee Internal Sales Engineer to join their team. This would suit someone with an engineering background who is looking to develop a career combining technical engineering and B2B sales. The Role

Working closely with the Technical and Sales teams, you will receive training on the company's products and applications while supporting customers from initial enquiry through to order. Responsibilities will include:

  • Responding to customer enquiries and providing technical support
  • Preparing technical quotations and proposals
  • Understanding customer requirements and identifying suitable solutions
  • Calculating costs and applying appropriate margins
  • Processing customer orders and maintaining accurate records
  • Liaising with suppliers regarding product availability and orders
  • Working closely with the warehouse and internal teams to ensure orders are delivered correctly
  • Maintaining sales and enquiry records
  • Keeping customers updated on products, technical developments and orders
  • Supporting existing customer relationships and identifying new sales opportunities
  • Assisting with general sales administration and reporting
  • Potentially supporting marketing and social media activity

The Candidate

  • Holds an engineering qualification
  • Strong mathematics or physics background
  • A genuine interest in developing a career in technical sales
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • The ability to understand and learn technical products and applications
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • A professional and commercially aware approach
  • Previous B2B sales or customer-facing experience would be beneficial, but is not essential
