The Company

A well-established precision engineering and subcontract manufacturing company is looking to recruit an CMM Quality Inspector to join its quality team.

The Role

As a CMM Quality Inspector, you will be responsible for carrying out first-off, in-process and final inspection of precision machined components, ensuring products meet customer specifications and quality standards.

This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with components and inspection equipment rather than purely documentation-based quality activities.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out first-off, in-process and final inspection of precision machined components.
  • Operate and programme CMM equipment.
  • Inspect components using a range of conventional and optical measuring equipment.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, geometric tolerances (GD&T) and customer specifications.
  • Complete First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) and inspection documentation.
  • Identify non-conformances and work with Production to resolve quality issues.
  • Support root cause investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure inspection records are completed accurately and maintained in line with company procedures.
  • Maintain high standards of quality, housekeeping and health & safety.
  • The Candidate

The successful candidate will have previous inspection experience within a precision engineering or CNC machining environment and be confident working with both CMM and conventional inspection equipment.

You should have

Previous experience as an Inspector, Quality Inspector or Inspection Engineer.

Experience operating CMM equipment, with programming experience highly desirable.

Experience inspecting precision CNC milled and turned components.

The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.

Experience using a wide range of precision measuring equipment.

Knowledge of First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) and quality documentation.

Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to quality.

Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with Production and Engineering teams.
