The Role
Working within a busy machine shop, you'll be involved in the manufacture of precision components from prototype work through to small production batches.
You'll work with a variety of CNC and conventional machine tools while ensuring work is completed safely, accurately and to the highest quality standards.
Typical duties will include
- Setting up and operating CNC and manual machine tools.
- Producing precision components from engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Selecting suitable tooling and work-holding methods for a range of machining operations.
- Manufacturing low-volume and bespoke components to tight tolerances.
- Inspecting finished work using a range of measuring equipment to ensure dimensional accuracy.
- Monitoring machine performance and carrying out routine maintenance checks.
- Working alongside engineering and production teams to overcome manufacturing challenges.
- Identifying opportunities to improve machining methods, workflow and productivity.
- Assisting with the introduction of new manufacturing techniques and improved workshop practices.
- Maintaining a safe, organised and efficient working environment.
Skills & Experience
Previous experience working within a CNC machining environment.
Confidence reading and working from engineering drawings.
A solid understanding of machining principles, tooling selection and manufacturing processes.
