Overview
My client is a well-established engineering manufacturer seeking a Test Engineer to join their growing team.
This is a hands-on role responsible for carrying out electrical acceptance testing on high-value engineered products, ensuring all equipment meets customer specifications, engineering standards and quality requirements before dispatch.
Working closely with Electrical, Production, Quality and Engineering teams, you will play a key role in delivering reliable testing solutions while supporting continuous improvements within the test facility.
Responsibilities
- Carry out electrical acceptance testing on large industrial electrical equipment.
- Perform high-voltage testing in accordance with engineering procedures and safety regulations.
- Accurately record, analyse and report test results against customer specifications and engineering standards.
- Produce detailed test documentation and ensure results are recorded within company systems.
- Support the development and improvement of testing methods, data acquisition systems and test procedures.
- Ensure all testing equipment is correctly maintained, calibrated and fit for purpose.
- Work closely with Production and Engineering teams to coordinate testing activities and meet project deadlines.
- Investigate faults identified during testing and support root cause analysis where required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance testing efficiency, quality and safety.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and compliance with Health & Safety procedures.
Qualifications
- HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience working with high-voltage electrical systems.
- Previous experience carrying out electrical testing within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of electrical power systems and large-scale test equipment.
- Experience working to engineering procedures, quality plans and technical specifications.
- Strong awareness of Health & Safety within a safety-critical environment.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive and methodical approach.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
Desirable
- Knowledge of IEC or ISO electrical testing standards.
- Experience carrying out dielectric, insulation resistance or performance testing.
- Experience working with variable speed drives (VSDs).
- Familiarity with data acquisition systems or automated test equipment.
- Experience using Lab VIEW or similar software.
- Previous experience within rotating equipment, motors, generators or industrial electrical machinery.
