My client is currently seeking a Workshop Supervisor to lead day-to-day operations within a busy engine rebuild and service environment. This role would suit an experienced, hands-on supervisor with strong engine rebuild knowledge and experience managing workshop teams. The position is responsible for ensuring engines are rebuilt, serviced, and delivered to the required quality standards, on time and in line with health & safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate day-to-day operations of the inboard engine overhaul workshop
- Lead and support workshop staff and apprentices, providing technical guidance where required
- Ensure engines and products are rebuilt, serviced, and repaired in line with build standards and manuals
- Progress builds through the workshop, ensuring finished goods are inspected, packed, and labelled correctly
- Ensure production targets and delivery deadlines are met
- Raise quotations for rebuilds and service work
- Carry out engine repairs and overhauls when required
- Oversee on-the-job training and support new product builds
- Ensure build standard changes, drawings, and instructions are communicated effectively
- Ensure accurate time capture, task allocation, and workflow management
- Maintain high standards of health & safety and safe working practices
- Ensure workshop cleanliness and organisation standards are upheld
- Ensure tools and equipment are calibrated, maintained, and fit for use
- Support product testing, exhibitions, and off-site activities when required
- Drive company vehicles for collection and delivery of parts or equipment as needed
The Candidate
- Holds a recognised engineering qualification
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a workshop or production environment
- Strong experience working on engines
- Proven experience supervising staff and managing daily production issues
- Good understanding of health & safety legislation
- Confident communicator with a hands-on leadership approach
- Competent with computer systems and workshop documentation
Salary
£40,000 – £42,000 per annum, depending on experience.
