A growing engineering and manufacturing business is looking to recruit a Design Engineer to join its technical team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a long-term career within mechanical design and engineering, working on a variety of bespoke equipment and fabricated products within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Working alongside experienced engineers and production teams, the Design Engineer will support the design and development of mechanical products and assemblies using 3D CAD software. The role will involve producing engineering drawings, updating technical documentation, and supporting manufacturing teams with design-related queries. This is not a graduate role.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce and modify 3D CAD models and assemblies using engineering design software
- Create detailed 2D manufacturing drawings for fabrication and production teams
- Assist with product development and engineering design projects
- Support the creation of technical documentation including work instructions, manuals, and specification sheets
- Liaise with engineering, fabrication, and production teams regarding design updates and technical queries
- Ensure drawings and documentation are accurately controlled and updated
- Assist with design changes and continuous improvement activities
- Work closely with the wider engineering team to support ongoing projects and manufacturing requirements
- Support prototype and development work where required
- Maintain accurate engineering records and documentation
The Candidate
- Previous CAD experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment
- Experience using 3D CAD software
- Experienced in fabrication/sheet metal parts
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Computer-literate with a strong attention to detail
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Engineering, design, or manufacturing qualification advantageous
- Motivated and keen to build a long-term career within engineering
