My client is seeking a Service Engineer to join their team, providing technical support, maintenance, and repair services for engine-powered equipment across a range of industrial environments. This is a hands-on, field-based role, working with customers across the UK. You will be responsible for fault-finding, servicing, and repairs both on-site and occasionally at head office, ensuring high standards of service and customer satisfaction. The role may involve travel and occasional overnight stays.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repair work on diesel and petrol-powered equipment
- Work with a variety of machinery, including electronically controlled engine systems
- Deliver on-site technical support across a range of industrial environments
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and control-related issues using appropriate tools and technical information
- Accurately complete service reports, job sheets, and supporting documentation
- Ensure timely submission of timesheets and service records
- Adhere to all health & safety guidelines and company procedures when carrying out work
- Assist with technical fault investigations and provide input for warranty-related matters
- Liaise with internal departments to support efficient resolution of service issues
- Organise and prioritise workload effectively in line with operational requirements
- Participate in training sessions, team meetings, and technical updates when required
- Maintain strong, professional relationships with customers while representing the business on-site
- Clearly explain diagnostics, repair work, and recommendations to customers
The Candidate
- Proven hands-on experience working with diesel and petrol engines
- Good working knowledge of electrical systems and diagnostics
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and service manuals
- Previous experience in a mobile/service-based engineering role
- Confident using IT systems and standard software packages
- Able to work independently, managing workload and priorities effectively
