My client is looking for a Design Engineer to join their design office. This role involves the design, development, and ongoing technical support of the company’s products, in line with the quality standards set by the business. You will also take on additional tasks as requested by management to support the company’s wider development strategy.
Responsibilities
- Design engineering assemblies incorporating mechanical and electrical systems
- Support new product development projects as directed by management
- Provide technical assistance to both production and sales teams
- Liaise with suppliers on technical specifications and component details
- Create, manage, and update technical assembly and manufacturing drawings
- Contribute to design and development decision-making processes
- Assist with the construction and testing of prototypes from concept through to pre-production
- Prepare and manage Bills of Materials (BOMS)
Experience and Skills
- Formal education in engineering, ideally to degree level, with a minimum of five years’ experience in a design engineering role
- Proficient in a 3D CAD environment with a strong understanding of component and assembly modelling, and technical drawing production
- Skilled in solving engineering challenges through innovative design solutions
- Knowledge of mechanical systems
- Experience working with fabricated components in steel, aluminium, and plastics
- Familiarity with moulded components and tooling
