This is a specialist technical position responsible for the operation, maintenance, and continual improvement of the engine dynamometer test facility. The successful candidate will ensure every engine meets performance and quality standards through expert testing, data analysis, and strict adherence to safety and compliance requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the full mechanical and electrical installation of engines onto the dynamometer, ensuring correct coupling, cooling, exhaust, fuel, and instrumentation connections.
- Independently operating and programming the dynamometer system to carry out quality test plans.
- Conducting break-in, performance, validation, and durability testing cycles.
- Collecting, documenting, and analysing test data against performance specifications.
- Identifying anomalies and escalating issues where engines fail performance criteria.
- Maintaining a clean, safe, compliant, and well-organised test cell environment.
- Managing facility tools, equipment integrity, and security.
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, or control system faults to minimise downtime.
- Overseeing the annual calibration of dynamometer equipment and instrumentation, liaising with external providers and maintaining compliance documentation.
- Training and mentoring apprentices and new starters on test cell procedures and safety practices.
- Ensuring adherence to HSE policies, safe systems of work, and process documentation.
