Field Service Engineer – Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
Locations: West reigon – Bristol, Swindon & Birmingham
Salary: £45,000 to £55,000 (Dependant on industry experience)

About the Role
As a BESS Field Service Engineer, you will play a vital role in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing energy storage systems. Your work will contribute to the efficient operation of renewable energy infrastructure, ensuring high performance and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and warranty repairs on energy storage systems.
- Perform system software and firmware upgrades.
- Monitor system performance and analyze operational data.
- Provide remote diagnostics and phone support to customers.
- Manage spare parts inventory and oversee equipment at BESS sites.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and perform risk assessments.
- Maintain accurate records, including timesheets, vehicle checks, and daily job logs.
- Collaborate with system engineering teams to enhance product development and improve field operations.
What We’re Looking For:
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Electrical or electro-mechanical qualification.
- Experience in electrical or multi-skilled maintenance.
- Proficiency with IT tools such as Word, Outlook, Excel, and troubleshooting software.
- Familiarity with working safely on-site, adhering to local regulations.
- Willingness to travel extensively, including overnight stays and occasional international trips.
Preferred Experience (not essential):
- Hands-on experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
- Knowledge of HV/LV power electronics, inverters, converters, and transformers.
- HVAC training and F-Gas qualification.
- Strong understanding of IT systems, networking protocols, and MODBUS/TCP.
- Test & Inspect qualifications (e.g., C&G 2391-5) and familiarity with BS7671.
- HV authorized person certification.
