We are a large, well-established UK manufacturer with multiple sites nationwide, supplying high-quality products to major retailers. Our Scunthorpe site is the largest and one of the most complex, with around 2,000 employees across salaried and hourly roles. About the Role
We’re looking for a hands-on Learning & Development Manager to lead and shape the learning culture across the site. This is a fast-paced, high-volume environment that needs someone with energy, resilience, and creativity – someone who can roll up their sleeves and make learning happen on the ground.
Key Responsibilities
This is a full-scope L&D role with real ownership. You will:
- Design and deliver engaging factory and management training programs
- Lead and continuously improve the induction and onboarding process
- Develop and implement the wider site learning strategy
- Support new projects and initiatives with tailored training interventions
- Build practical, impactful learning solutions from scratch – we’re looking for a doer, not a textbook trainer
About You
We’re after someone who’s confident, visible, and proactive. You should be comfortable leading a team, inspiring others, and turning ideas into action. You’ll thrive in a role where you\’re on the factory floor as much as in the training room , building rapport, spotting gaps, and getting things done.
Key Skills & Experience
- 2+ years in a Learning & Development role (ideally within manufacturing or industrial settings)
- Strong facilitation and delivery skills – both hands-on and strategic
- Experience leading or mentoring a team is a plus
- Able to think on your feet and adapt quickly in a dynamic environment
- Comfortable working closely with operational teams – this is an onsite, visible role
- L&D or HR qualifications (e.g. CIPD) would be an advantage
