Manpower is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a leading residential care provider for a passionate and experienced Cook to join their team in Carlisle.

About the Role
As the Cook, you will take responsibility for planning, preparing and serving freshly cooked, nutritionally balanced meals that cater to a variety of dietary needs.

Working closely with residents and the wider care team, you will help create enjoyable dining experiences while maintaining the highest standards of food hygiene and kitchen safety.

This role offers an excellent work-life balance, with shifts worked over four days per week, providing three full days off.

Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook nutritious, high-quality meals in line with menu plans.

Create varied weekly menus that meet the dietary and nutritional needs of residents.

Prepare specialist and textured diets where required.

Ensure all food preparation, storage and serving complies with food hygiene regulations.

Maintain a clean, safe and organised kitchen environment.

Order supplies, manage stock levels and monitor kitchen inventory.

Work collaboratively with colleagues, volunteers and residents where appropriate.

Follow health and safety procedures and maintain accurate records.

What We're Looking For
We're seeking an enthusiastic and reliable individual who has: At least 1 year of experience in a similar cooking or catering role.

Strong practical cooking skills and a passion for preparing fresh meals.

Experience of menu planning and catering for groups.

Understanding of the nutritional requirements of older people.

Good organisational skills and the ability to work independently.

Strong communication skills and a team-focused approach.

Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).

Relevant catering qualifications or training.
