The Role: This role will provide holistic lifecycle Systems Engineering support to replenishment activities within the Skynet SDW programme. As a highly experienced Senior Systems Engineer, reporting to the Project Engineering Manager (PEM), duties will include:
- Whole Lifecycle Systems Engineering knowledge and experience through best-placed SE practice, including systems thinking to develop solutions tailored to meet requirements.
- Requirements development from system through to subsystem, including requirement analysis and traceability, providing the golden thread for the relevant work package.
- Managing interfaces and trade-offs between systems, subsystems, functions and requirements.
- Preparation of Test and Integration specifications, including formal verification planning, execution, and results capture.
- Management of test baselines including planning and execution of Integration and Test schedules, system qualification and acceptance testing.
- Lead and support design review artefact development and customer presentations, including our client’s process for the relevant gates and reviews.
- Leading a team of engineers to accomplish critical milestones. Work with the PM to understand, develop, and manage timescales and resource needs. Strong communication and leadership skills are required.
- Knowledge of networks or satellite communication systems.

- Experience in a technical discipline with the confidence to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team, and drive to think with a systems perspective.
- Ability to identify and manage interfaces, specifications, and certificates, producing boundary views.
- Proven ability to undertake technical management of internal and external sub-contractors with levels of delegated authority.
- Experienced in managing technical and project risks.
- SE expertise across the engineering lifecycle – V-Model or equivalent – from initial concepts, requirements, design, implementation, integration, verification, validation, maintenance, and supportability.
- Experience with using IBM DOORS and EA Sparx.
Must have:
- Proven experience in Holistic Life Cycle Management with balanced competencies across the SE discipline.
- A good understanding of cross-domain and cross-boundary requirements and interfaces.
- Systems architecture and experience in leading small teams and projects.
- Knowledge of UK MoD KiD practices and ways of working.
- Practitioner in determining and managing stakeholder requirements, life cycle tailoring, verification, validation, and transition to operation.
- Conversant with accreditation standards for bringing into service telecommunications systems, including bespoke and COTS software applications.
Desirable:
- Experience in both hardware and software engineering lifecycles.
- Knowledge or experience of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
Education and Qualifications: Degree or equivalent in Engineering. HNC/HND with equivalent, relevant experience is valued and welcomed.
Skills and Attributes: Must hold or be able to obtain DV Clearance.
