Our client is seeking an experienced Naval Architect to join a specialist technical team providing analysis, advice and guidance to customers in the defence sector. You will work on surface ships and submarines, assessing performance and supporting critical design and safety decisions.
The Role
- Analyse manoeuvring and control, dynamic and quasi-static stability, seakeeping, resistance and propulsion for naval platforms.
- Use industry-standard and bespoke numerical simulation tools to support ship and submarine performance assessments.
- Present findings in internal and external forums, including customer meetings and conferences.
- Contribute to bids and business planning by preparing task estimates and work breakdowns.
- Work closely with customers and internal stakeholders to understand requirements and develop innovative technical solutions.
- Ensure work is delivered safely and in line with agreed plans and quality standards.
Skills & Experience
- Background in Naval Architecture, ideally degree-level or equivalent experience.
- Strong analytical skills with experience of data analysis and numerical modelling.
- Programming capability in tools such as Matlab and/or Python.
- Ability to develop alternative strategies, solve complex problems and propose innovative solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presenting complex technical information clearly.
- Strong team player with good organisation, attention to detail and collaborative mindset.
- Safety-conscious, with a proactive approach to identifying hazards and improving ways of working.
Contract Details
- 3-6 month contract with potential to extend, subject to project needs.
- Working as part of a multi-disciplinary technical team supporting defence customers.
